Walking – A Simple Course to Weight Loss

The moment you resolve to shed off some pounds, you need to develop an exercise program. Maybe you’ve never exercised before, or at least not recently. Although it can seem overwhelming, you can work your way into a workout program gradually by walking. You should definitely include walking to any exercise plan you do.

There are many ways to fit walking into your everyday routine. If you own a dog then take your dog for a walk around the neighborhood for no less than ten minutes. Your walks may only be 10 minutes at a time, but over one week that corresponds to a minimum of minutes, which is rather a lot of walking. Taking your dog for a walk twice per day will double that number. Walk to your workplace if you live somewhat close to it. Of course, if it’s going to take you 2 hours to walk to work, it’s not such a great idea to walk there daily (but feel free to try if you feel you can do it!). It’s not unreasonable to walk to get to your workplace and it will give you one hour of exercise every day going back and forth. If you commute to work, consider walking to the next bus stop and incorporate some exercise to your day. It’s simple to add walking into your life.

Walking is terrific for your whole health. You can expect to better your heart and also slim down since walking is a type of cardio workout. Unlike running, which can put stress on your joints, you can walk at a pace you choose. My brother is very thin (but he eats a lot of junk food) and I ask him how he he can stay slim. He tells he has no clue but reminded me that he walks a lot every day. After he mentioned that, it made perfect sense. Walking is so easy to do there’s no excuse you shouldn’t do it.

Set up a day-to-day walking routine, combine it with a good diet, and you should realize weight loss without any big effort. As walking is not a strenuous workout, it’s better to remain motivated and stick to your program. You can hike up the intensity level of your walking as you become used to walking on a regular basis. If you feel like you’re ready to move on to something harder, don’t be frightened to try. Walk faster than you normally do and maybe jog for a few steps along the way if you feel up to it. After this, you may wish to progress to harder activities.

There’s no reason that you shouldn’t go walking a few minutes each day. Even people with a lot on their plate can find 10 minutes each day to walk around the block or go to the local gym for a stint on the treadmill.
